Our service is straight forward, but we have some requests to deliver the best experience

How our repipe works

Day 1
Repipe right with Pex

How we do a repipe service?

The process begins when you contact us to schedule an onsite visit. We will send a licensed journeyman plumber to evaluate your water distribution system and prepare an estimate.

During our plumber’s walk-through, he will ask questions to understand what your main concerns are in order to address them during the project. PEX Plumbing gives you a clearly-detailed and accurate proposal after the first visit.
Once you have reviewed your proposal for your repipe, you may contact our office to schedule. Our concierge-level scheduling team will coordinate every aspect of your job.  Permits will be in place, and materials, equipment and manpower will all arrive on time and ready to go. In some cases, the same plumber who met with you on the first visit will be at your repipe. The plumber will walk through your home again to make sure your expectations are fully met that day. Your home will be protected with drop cloths, runners, plastic sheeting and a carpet mask. You are welcome to stay in your home while we work.

Our crew is polite in demeanor and language.

We will have new pipe installed, tested, and back on line by the end of the day. We spend time flushing your new plumbing system and any existing fixtures that remain.  We clean up completely after ourselves.  Trash and pipe that we take out will be removed and recycled off site. Our plumber will walk through your home with you and point out any specifics that you need to be aware of. We invite you to use all of your plumbing fixtures in order to make sure that things are working just right.

Day 2
Pex repipe stand the test of time

The local plumbing inspector will have been scheduled to come to your home. You will meet the inspector and allow them to see the areas that they request.  They will look for proper installation of pipes and fixtures.  They will check the temperature of the water at the tubs and showers.  They will check that the other fixtures are functioning properly. A plumbing inspection usually lasts about 15 minutes.  While we will do our best to provide you with an arrival window for the inspector, some jurisdictions may not give us a window or even a phone call to let us know when they will arrive.

Day 3

In the rare case that there is a correction needed we will follow up this day and make sure that things are ready to move forward. If everything is ready, then our sheetrock / drywall repair team will patch the walls to paint-ready condition. They will protect your home with plastic, drop cloths, etc.
They will usually be done in a single day, although some jobs with extra holes may require a second day. Drywall repairs can be tricky; however, our skilled installers perform quality work, and most patches simply disappear after they are painted.

How to prepare for your bid visit

Repipe right with Pex

At our bid visit we will talk to you about the problems or issues that you are having. Be ready to let us know what you hope to accomplish in this project.

We will look in cabinets, under sinks, in the garage, in closets that are behind plumbing fixtures, and in the crawl space. It is not necessary to clear these areas out for our initial visit, but be prepared for us to take a peek in your personal spaces.

We will need access to the crawl space. Locate the opening and clear the area so that we can see the condition in there.

Consider any extra things you may want to accomplish

  • Would you like a hose bibb in a new location?
  • Would you like new faucets and toilets?
  • Would you like water installed to a refrigerator location?

How to prepare for the day of the repipe

There are some things you can do to help us prepare for your PEX Repipe.

During our original walk-through, we will discuss with you how we will install pipes and access hidden areas. This information should be clearly spelled out on your proposal.

You should have these areas cleared out for us: closets, cabinets, around toilets, under sinks, and crawl space entrances.

Remove artwork and knickknacks from walls and shelves in areas close to where we will be working. We will try to prepare you for this during the initial walk-through.

We need an area to place our gear. Garage bays work perfectly for this. Sometimes, a full garage requires us to move a kitchen table and set up inside. This is all no problem but we need room to work for one day.

Draw some water into 3 or 4 buckets. We will have the water shut off from the beginning to the end of the day. If you are staying home, bucket water can be used to flush toilets, etc.

Have some drinking water for yourself on hand.

Follow the payment schedule. The initial deposit should have been collected already. You should be prepared to make the second required payment at the end of this work day.

Electrical Grounding

Homes which were originally built with metal water pipes may have used that water pipe as a path to ground for the electrical system.

If your home’s electrical system has not been updated, chances are you will need to have an alternative path to grounding installed before we proceed with a repipe or water service replacement. If you are unable to have this done by the repipe date, and the inspector confirms that regrounding is needed, please get this taken care of at your earliest convenience.

This involves installing two grounding rods outside your home. A single wire is run from the circuit breaker panel to both rods.

This must be done by an electrician with a permit.

The plumbing inspector will not close out a permit for a PEX Repipe or a Water Service Replacement without the electrical grounding being addressed.

This can usually be accomplished for around $500.
